mise en abyme
O termo francês Mise en Abyme costuma ser traduzido como narrativa em abismo e foi usado inicialmente pelo escritor André Gide, ao descrever as narrativas que contêm outras narrativas dentro de si. Ao apropriar-se deste termo para conceber esta instalação, em que vários objetos se mesclam um dentro do outro, apresento inúmeras possibilidades de novos arranjos no espaço expositivo. Esta série busca dialogar e explorar a dicotomia entre o maleável/flexível (objetos em tecido e poliéster) e rígido/estável (garras em cerâmica). Cria-se assim um diálogo entre o previsível e o acaso, na medida em que – a despeito de número de objetos ser previamente definido –, não se sabe de antemão como podem vir ser combinados ou recombinados entre si e, menos ainda, quais as formas que resultarão deste processo. Cada nova instalação é uma nova configuração.
The French term Mise en Abyme is usually translated as narrative in the abyss and was first used by André Gide, in describing narratives that embed other narratives. In appropriating this term to create this installation, in which several objects merge into one another, innumerable possibilities for new arrangements in the exhibition space are presented. This series seeks to communicate and explore the dichotomy between that which is malleable/flexible (fabrics and polyester objects) and that which is rigid/stable (ceramic claws). Thus creating a dialogue between predictability and chance, in so far as - despite the number of objects being previously defined - it is not known in advance how they can be combined or recombined, and even less, what forms will result from this process. Each new installation is a new configuration.
